The Org Health Score Widget

The Org Health Score is a single number on the dashboard Overview tab that gives you an at-a-glance read on the state of your institutional memory. It ranges from 0 to 100 and carries a letter grade from A to F. It updates in real time as records change.

How it is calculated

The score is the sum of four 25-point sub-scores, each measuring a different dimension:

• Decision Velocity — how decisions are moving through memory.
• Risk Management — how risks are being captured and handled.
• Task Completion — how action items are being followed through.
• Governance Health — the state of governance structure and hygiene.

Because each sub-score is worth 25 points, they are equally weighted, and the four together give a balanced picture rather than letting any single area dominate.

The grade bands

• A — 85 to 100
• B — 70 to 84
• C — 55 to 69
• D — 40 to 54
• F — 0 to 39

The most important thing to understand

Read this carefully, because it changes how you should react to the number. The score measures how completely your institutional memory is being captured and reviewed. It does NOT measure the health of your organization itself.

A high-functioning circle can score low simply because its memory is thin or its review queues are behind. A struggling circle could score high because it happens to be diligent about capturing and reviewing records. The two are not the same thing.

A concrete example: a circle that just finished a busy, productive cycle (heads down, shipping, not yet caught up on documenting and reviewing) may score low for a month even though the organization is thriving. That low score is telling you the memory is behind, not that the work is failing.

How this differs from Vital Signs

The two are easy to confuse and answer different questions. The Org Health Score measures memory hygiene: is what happens here being captured and reviewed? Vital Signs measure the organization itself: the handful of numbers a circle or role has chosen to watch, such as volunteer hours, occupancy, or review backlog. How to use it well

Treat the score as a conversation starter, not a judgment. When it dips, the right first question is "have we fallen behind on capturing and reviewing?" — not "what is wrong with us?" Used that way, it becomes a gentle nudge to keep memory current, which is exactly the behavior that makes Sera valuable.

When there is no data yet

Before any records exist, the widget will read "Unavailable", and that is expected. A brand-new instance has nothing to score. The number will appear once memory starts accumulating. Do not read an early "Unavailable" as a problem; it simply means there is not yet enough captured for the four sub-scores to be meaningful.
