Setting Up a Circle Lesson 12 of 17

🧭 2.5: How We Perform

Setting Up a Circle · 2 min read · original

Performance in this circle isn’t about being busy. It’s about seeing the impact of our work and knowing if our agreements, decisions, and culture are truly serving us.

πŸ“Š Metrics That Matter

Every circle tracks a few simple metrics to stay aligned with its purpose:

  • Decision Throughput β†’ How quickly proposals move through consent
  • Policy Health Score β†’ Are our agreements clear, trusted, and up to date
  • NPS (Net Promoter Score) β†’ Do members feel proud to recommend being part of this circle

πŸ‘‰ These metrics remind us: We measure impact, not just effort.

🧭 How We Measure

Decision Throughput

  • Count how many proposals were made, consented, or escalated in a given period
  • Example: β€œLast quarter: 6 proposals, 5 adopted by consent, 1 escalated.”

Policy Health Score

  • Quarterly 3-question check-in:
  • Answers are averaged into a % score.
  • Example: β€œClarity = 80%, Trust = 90%. Policy Health Score = 85%.”

NPS (Net Promoter Score)

  • Ask once per quarter: β€œOn a scale of 0–10, how likely are you to recommend this circle to a trusted peer?”
  • 9–10 = Promoters, 7–8 = Neutral, 0–6 = Detractors
  • NPS = % Promoters – % Detractors
  • Example: β€œ5 promoters, 2 detractors, 3 neutral = NPS +30.”

πŸ”„ How We Use Metrics

  • Reviewed: At governance meetings (monthly) and strategy meetings (quarterly)
  • Shared: Posted by the AI Secretary in the circle feed under #Metrics
  • Discussed: Used as learning signals, not for blame
  • Improved: If metrics dip, we update agreements, systems, or practices

πŸ—‚οΈ Where to See Updates

  • Metrics Dashboard in Notion β†’ Full data and trends [Insert Link]
  • Circle Feed β†’ Steward or AI Secretary posts a quarterly summary
  • Projects Dashboard β†’ Metrics embedded alongside active projects

✨ Reflection Prompt

  • Which of these metrics feels most meaningful to you right now
  • What would you suggest we measure to better reflect our collective impact
